The design request for this table was for something “unique” incorporating curves with a boat feel to it. To ensure that one of a kind table, the piece was constructed of recycled American chestnut from an old tobacco-drying shed from Connecticut built in the 1920s. Chestnut is a beautiful wood to work, has a soft warm colour and like many of the nut trees has an appealing grain. This lumber was worm holed, had splits and the original steel fasteners in it. As a highlight, during construction the steel was removed, table completed and the steel put back in as detail features.
The finish is stain under marine varnish.
This table was designed and built for “Cape and Islands Tennis and Track”, 2010.
